Project Team Assignments

The course instructors will ultimately choose who is on each team. In making their selections, the instructors are concerned with two key constraints:

• Keeping team sizes to 4 students, with 3 students being the second choice when 4 is not possible.
• Balancing technical ability across teams based on performance on the skills assignments.

Additionally, students may request that certain other students are on their team. The instructors will do their best to honor such requests, as long as the above constraints are adequately met.

Note that requesting teammates is optional. If you don’t request anyone, the instructors will assign you to a team.

How to Request Teammates

A group of students may request to work together. The size of the group may be 2–4 students. All students in the group must agree to it and indicate their support for the request.

To submit a request, perform the following steps:

1. One member of the group sends a request email as follows:
   • Email subject: “Project Teammate Request”
   • To: Scott.Fleming@memphis.edu, jmskheil@memphis.edu
   • CC: All other members of the proposed group—all students must use their UofM email addresses
   • Email body: “I am requesting the following students be on the same project team:”, then list all the students in the group, including the email sender.
2. Each and every other member of the group must reply-all to the email with a message that says, “I confirm this request.”

Important! Only requests that follow the above instructions and for which all members of the group have replied will be considered.

Note that, for group requests of fewer than 4 students, the instructors may add additional students to the team to increase it to the desired size.
